hope

i saw an exhibit today commemorating sadako sasaki, the girl of the thousand paper cranes. maybe you've heard of her. at twelve years old, she died from leukemia caused by the fallout of the hiroshima bombing ten years earlier.

she believed that if she made a thousand cranes, she would be healed.

the exhibit plaque said, "but her hope was in vain."

i don't agree.

it's in the center of the HFAC--part of a bigger exhibit all about Japanese internment camps. Stop by; it's worth it.

love that story, but it's so so sad.
